In Homeopathic case taking, a person's health is viewed as a condition of the entire individual rather than the presence or absence of isolated symptoms. A remedy is selected which best corresponds to the total picture of symptoms, especially those that are unique and characteristic of the patient: mentally, emotionally, and physically. The remedy works by augmenting the body's inherent ability to heal itself. Just think of all the colds, flu's, cuts and bruises your body has recovered from in your lifetime. The basic principle of Homeopathy is the Law of Similars: any substance that can produce a specific set of symptoms when given to a healthy person, can cure those same symptoms when given to a sick person. Thus, "like cures like". In order to eliminate any harmful side effects of medicines, very minute dilutions are used: Law of the Minimum Dose and one medicine at a time: Law of a Single Remedy.
